Westin W3 3rd Gen Powershad Spinning Rods

The Westin W3 Powershad 3rd Generation is a versatile medium-fast spinning rod series for the all-round predator angler. Designed to handle both soft and hard lures, it combines responsive lure control with enough power for a wide range of predator fishing situations, from pike, zander and perch to sea bass around Dublin’s coastline.

The successful Powershad action has been retained and upgraded with a superior Torayca® High Performance Carbon blank. This gives the rod a faster response and excellent sensitivity, allowing you to feel subtle touches on the lure all the way through to your fingertips. The medium-fast action helps you work lures accurately while retaining the controlled bend needed to enjoy the fight.

The series is available in a variety of lengths and casting weights, covering everything from lighter predator fishing to medium-heavy lure work. The current 8ft and 9ft, 15–40g setups offers a useful balance for casting and retrieving a broad range of lures, making it a strong choice for Dublin bass, Irish pike and other predator species.

Despite its powerful performance, the Westin W3 Powershad 3rd Generation remains enjoyable when targeting smaller or schoolie bass. It has the backbone to handle a serious fish but still provides plenty of feel and fun during lighter fights. Pair it with a 3000 or 4000 size spinning reel for a balanced lure-fishing setup.
